This part where the accident occurred is off limits to the public. This was announced at a briefing to journalists by Slavi Slavov, who is the sports director of the Mountain Climb “Aladzha Monastery“ competition – Varna 2025, where an accident occurred today with a person dying.
“The driver is in good condition, but he was very scared”, shared the sports director.
“During the first warm-up lap, together with the safety officer Krasimir Krastev, we moved behind the sports cars to look at the track for irregularities. There was not a single person at the scene of the accident at 10:20. There is a safety tape and a sign that it is prohibited for spectators”, he commented.
“The car with the number 14 of Neyko Neykov started at 11:07 minutes. At 11:08 we received a signal on the radio stations about a car that had crashed and an injured public. I immediately ordered a red flag, which is to stop the track for traffic. Then I ordered the ambulance to leave. We have two ambulances - one is at the T-junction, the other is at the start”, said Slavov.
He explained that he was at the start and left together with the second ambulance and the police.
“At 11:12 we called 112 to ask for help, because we saw that there were many injured people. We started to pull out the people who were on the lower side of the road. There were three seriously injured, the others were less seriously injured. The medical teams treated them, they were in a contact state”, said the sports director.
According to him, three ambulances were called. The first two arrived at 11:25, and the third at 11:27.
“The man who died was in contact and talking. Everyone was”, Slavov commented.
The people who were injured were standing behind the guardrail. According to the sports director, they entered through the forest.
“This is a racing accident. It happens. He came at a slightly higher speed, he saw that he would not be able to take the turn, it is clear from the tracks that he tried to press the brakes and then crashed”, he said of the crashed pilot.
“Before the race we test for alcohol, but we do not have the opportunity for drugs”, he added.
