“There were people from all over Bulgaria who wanted to go to this meeting. They invited me, we went, we met, we remembered good times and I left. I have not participated in the forums. I will not speak of yellows. Now if we listen to what the Democrats and Republicans are saying in America, at least they are an example at the moment“. This is what Boyko Borisov said to Nikolay Barekov about the scandal with an article in the “Wall Street Journal“, in which it is alleged that he tried to give the US the opportunity to use “Turkish Stream“ (also called “Balkan Stream“) and the “Neftokhim“ refinery, and in response they should lift the sanctions under the “Magnitsky“ law against its “close allies“.
“First, “Balkan Stream“ is a project approved by the European Commission. Now in the coming days, when the Council of Energy Ministers passes, they will make a decision – within one-two-three years, this will be over with Russian gas. Then this largest installation on the Balkan Peninsula must remain underground or be made to work. What are our neighbors doing – Turkey, Europe? They are negotiating the supply of American liquefied natural gas for 15 years, the Germans – from Qatar, from Egypt. We need to find investors not only in the gas transmission system, in order to supply Europe, together with the Turks,“ Borisov added.
He said he did not know “what scandal there is here“, considering the contract with “Botas“. Borisov defined his proposal as “promoting“ the gas corridor. According to him, US President Donald Trump did not allow Bulgaria to be bypassed by the route.
“These are already yellow things, I do not want to talk about them“, Borisov concluded.
He said that his conversation with Trump Jr. was private and a meeting between the GERB leader and the US president was not discussed. According to him, Trump's son did not make any offer and that is why there were no photos.
Borisov answered with a “CATEGORICAL NO“ to the question of whether the removal of his “close allies“ from the list under the “Magnitsky“ law was discussed. However, he noted that “naturally“ he told Trump Jr. about the sanctions“
“For my part, I told what they did to us in recent years. They arrested us, now they are very concerned, but neither Vassilev, nor Petkov, nor Lena looked from inside the cell the way they did to me, to Goranov,“ Borisov also said. Delyan Peevski was not on the agenda, the GERB leader said. The meeting lasted nearly an hour. Borisov was accompanied by his chief of staff, Denitsa Zheleva.
“The only ones who have come to me to talk about “Lukoil“ are Kiril Petkov, Denkov and this company“, Borisov commented.
“Big prime minister, big waterfall. I have a small fountain in the yard.“ This is how Borisov commented on the incident with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov's hotel with a waterfall.
