A state of emergency has been declared in the Ruse village of Nikolovo due to the risk of a dam failure. The measure will be in effect until Saturday, announced yesterday the mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov.

Yesterday, some of the residents located 150 meters from both banks of the Saradzhiyska River in the "Lipnik" forest park, where there is a risk of the dam failing on the lake, were evacuated.

Preventive actions have been taken to release the water.

There are no leaks on the dam itself in the direction of the residential area of the village of Nikolovo.

People from the village of Sandrovo and the nearby town of Marten have also been warned to leave their homes if necessary. The area remains under surveillance by several institutions.
