The level of the Yantra River has risen sharply near the Ruse village of Dolna Studena, located in the municipality of Tsenovo, announced the regional governor Dragomir Draganov, quoted by Nova TV.

The waters have already risen to a level of over 5 meters and have flooded arable land. However, at this stage there is no direct danger to people in the area and their property. The cause of the disaster is the heavy rains over the past few days, which in places exceeded 200 l/sq m. m. It is believed that the surge of water comes from the current in the region of Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo districts.

According to initial information, the high level of the river has compromised the bridge passing near the village. Inspections are underway. If necessary, the facility will be temporarily closed. By order of Draganov, specialized equipment, including excavators and cranes, will be sent to the site within half an hour to remove the trees that have blocked the flow of the river right in the area of the bridge. The regional governor explained that the trees were dragged by the strong current further up the Yantra River.

He is in constant contact with the mayor of Tsenovo, Dr. Petar Petrov, and the mayor of Dolna Studena, Nikolay Nikolov, as well as with all state structures. If necessary, measures will be taken to form additional temporary protective dikes, Draganov explained.
