Today, "Save Sofia" is organizing its next large-scale volunteer clean-up campaign in the Krasno Selo district, which has been left without waste collection. Hundreds of volunteers, representatives of the local party organizations, municipal councilors and district mayors joined in cleaning up a total of five locations in "Borovo", "Agera", "Belite Brezi" and the "Krasno Selo" district.
„I thank the hundreds of volunteers, the district mayors and the people of Krasno Selo, who did not remain indifferent. This is the true civic energy that the mafia will not overcome - our city has always been and will always remain free and irreconcilable“, said Boris Bonev, leader of Spasi Sofia.
The district mayors of Oborishte, Poduyane and Izgrev participated, helping the region with equipment and logistical support for waste removal. In total, tons of waste were removed from the five locations, and the collected quantities include both household and construction and plant waste.
“Our team is working tirelessly to ensure that the residents of the region will not wake up tomorrow in a neighborhood turned into a landfill. I once again call on our citizens to be patient and throw away their plastic packaging in the bins for separate collection. This will significantly facilitate the cleaning”, said the mayor of the region, Tsveta Nikolaeva.
Over half of the volume of waste that people throw away is recyclable. “Half of this garbage could have been in the yellow containers and taken away by recycling companies”, said Andrey Zografski, a municipal councilor from Spasi Sofia.
“Spasi Sofia” said that they would support the mayor in his decision to refuse to work with companies associated with people with nicknames and that they would continue to organize clean-up actions until the problem is resolved.
