Pazardzhik votes in extraordinary elections for Municipal Council

A total of 29 parties and coalitions will compete for a seat in the local parliament

In Pazardzhik today, extraordinary elections are being held for a new municipal council with a record number of candidates, BNR reported.

A total of 29 parties and coalitions will compete for a seat in the local parliament, with a strong preferential vote expected. The election night passed peacefully, but the municipality remains under a heavy police presence. On today's election day, there will also be a record number of observers of the election process.

In addition to physical observers, the polling stations and the areas around them will also be monitored with drones organized by parties, the MEC confirmed. Chairman Stefan Dimitrov called on the members of the sectional election commissions not to succumb to provocations. “To try to work as calmly as possible, not to succumb to pressure. If they have any questions, they can always call the Municipal Election Commission so that we can help them where they cannot cope," commented Dimitrov.

A strong parliamentary presence is expected, and in turn, the residents of Pazardzhik expect real policies in favor of the municipality. 220 police officers will monitor the normal course of election day, which begins at 7:00 a.m.
