8,800 have interrupted their education for reasons related to the education system

Young Bulgarians who once started studying for a degree or professional qualification, but did not complete it or have currently interrupted it for one or more years, are 42,800 (3.5% of people aged 15-34 surveyed by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). 5,800 of them preferred to work, 8,800 have interrupted their education for reasons related to the education system, 13,000 for financial reasons and 15,200 for other reasons.

This is shown by NSI data from the module "Young People on the Labor Market" included in the 2024 Labor Force Survey, covering people aged 15 to 34. The study was co-financed by the European Commission, the NSI announced on its website.

58.5% of respondents who are employed in a specialty acquired upon completion of the highest level of education indicate a high or very high correspondence of the specialty with the nature of their main job.
