What happened last week was not a storm in a teacup. It felt like a serious government crisis, as well as one between the coalition partners. The current crisis has been overcome, but there is no guarantee that it will not happen again. This was said by sociologist Evelina Slavkova on Nova TV.
There are many elements that overlapped and led to what happened on the political terrain last week, she said.
"What Boyko Borisov said was about the results in Pazardzhik. GERB and the party leader were looking for a situation in which to make their own narrative of the events. There were also results – Rosen Zhelyazkov canceled the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the National Assembly stopped having a quorum. This was an attempt by GERB to prove that it has not been eaten and is still the first political force and is governing", Slavkova also pointed out.
According to her, today it became clear that “DPS-New Beginning” will continue to work in the way it has acted so far – as a guarantor of this government's mandate.
The sociologist also said that another thing that has become clear from the actions of “DPS-New Beginning” is that the formation will not support a change of prime minister, as well as some of the ministers.
Slavkova added that it is likely that the ITN will not agree to some of the current “agreements”.
However, she emphasized that the question remains whether there will be a change of ministers, as well as the Speaker of the National Assembly.
