Malls in Sofia have no intention of installing metal detectors at their entrances. On Nova TV, Maya Marinova, a representative of the Bulgarian Association of Retail Centers and manager of shopping centers in Sofia and Plovdiv, explained that the detectors will not detect a piece of glass or a plastic knife.
She noted that visitors to shopping centers enter from the pedestrian entrances or from the parking lots. According to her, malls also have emergency exits. According to her, if someone is determined to bring a weapon, they know where to go, news.bg pointed out.
Marinova said that the implementation of a function in smart video surveillance systems in malls is being discussed, which would identify a gathering of many people in one place or signal if a person falls. She pointed out that security is the number one topic. "We work with international companies. We insist that the staff be experienced and trained," Marinova specified.
We recall that a 15-year-old boy was fatally injured after a fight with another youth in a shopping center in Sofia. The police detained the alleged perpetrator. The prosecutor's office filed charges against the detained youth, who turned out to be criminally active.
