The International Conference "Bulgaria in Schengen" will be held on October 24 in Sofia. The event is part of a series of initiatives within the European Union (EU) dedicated to marking the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Schengen Agreement.
The conference will be opened by the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov. It will bring together key national and international participants – representatives of various Bulgarian law enforcement agencies, partners from neighboring countries – Schengen member states, EU agencies in the field of home affairs, as well as international and non-governmental organizations.
They will exchange experiences and good practices during panel discussions dedicated to compensatory measures at national and bilateral level, cooperation with EU agencies and third countries, the use of innovative solutions and challenges in the era of digitalization and artificial intelligence, as well as joint efforts to counter various forms of cross-border crime.
The conference is held with the grant support of the European Commission, through the Border Management and Visa Instrument 2021-2027.
