Why exactly did "Lukoil" have to acquire the ownership of "Neftochim Burgas"

Bulgaria should ask for a postponement or exemption from US sanctions

Why exactly did "Lukoil" have to acquire the ownership of "Neftochim Burgas"? In "Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov" on "Nova TV", Vladimir Kisyov - one of the first negotiators for Bulgaria's membership in the EU - speaks.

“Even then, Lukoil mainly processed Soviet and Iraqi oil and petroleum. Not that it couldn't have done otherwise, but purely logistically, the most convenient buyer was "Lukoil". No one imagined that it would come to this tension”, claims the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Kisyov did not hide that he was always worried when there was Russian interference in a process, since “history has proven that this partner cannot be relied upon”.

According to the former chairman of the SOS, the cabinet, parliament and responsible institutions are treating the issue responsibly and there should be a regular government. “I am not sure whether the mechanism for the special manager in the presence of majority owners in the person of “Lukoil” will not cause internal tensions within the company itself. In my opinion, Bulgaria should ask for a postponement or an exception to these sanctions”, Kisyov believes.
