Patriarch Daniil will lead the liturgy for the feast of the church of "St. Great Martyr Demetrius of Solunsky" in Kyustendil on the occasion of 160 years since the consecration of the church, which is one of the most visited and revered in the city. The Festive Matins will begin at 8:00 a.m., and at 8:45 a.m. there will be an official welcoming of His Holiness in the courtyard of the church.
The feast of the church of "St. Demetrius" in Kyustendil began a few days ago, when the mobile photo-documentary exhibition "160 years of the church of "St. Demetrius of Solunsky " - guardian of the faith and spirit of Kyustendil (1865-2025)".
With a solemn bell ringing on Saturday evening, dozens of Kyustendil residents welcomed an icon and a fragment of the holy relics of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Solunsky. The relics will remain here forever. The specially made icon was consecrated, after which a festive vespers with five loaves was served.
The celebrations on the occasion of 160 years since the consecration of one of the three main temples in Kyustendil will end with the patriarchal liturgy today.
