The MEP from “Vazrazhdane” Stanislav Stoyanov, head of the “Vazrazhdane” delegation in the European Parliament, chairman of the European party “Europe of Sovereign Nations” and deputy chairman of the eponymous parliamentary group, is on a one-day visit to the city of Plovdiv. The visit began with a press conference, at which the MEP and members of parliament Angel Georgiev and Emil Yankov from the “Vazrazhdane” parliamentary group presented their activities and presented their positions on important issues for Plovdiv and the country.
Stoyanov pointed out that the new seven-year financial framework of the European Union will enter into force on January 1, 2028. It is worrying that the EC proposal provides for a reduction in the budget for agriculture, which is fundamental for Europe and ensures the livelihood of the population, and directs funds to the military industry. This is due to the desire of the current European leaders to continue supporting the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“Funds for agriculture are being reduced by over 20%, and the two structural pillars are being united in a common fund - that of direct payments for agricultural production and for the development of rural areas. Here, the concern is mainly related to bureaucratic challenges and ambiguities, and the most endangered are expected to be small and medium-sized producers.”, Stanislav Stoyanov told journalists.
Another curious fact that he mentioned is that if the agricultural policy is adopted in the form in which it is currently proposed, a farmer who retires will not be entitled to a subsidy.
During the day, the MEP will meet at 1:30 p.m. with farmers, with whom he will discuss the regulation. The goal is for the proposals that will be made by the MEPs from “Vazrazhdane” to be as useful as possible for the sector and Bulgaria. Stoyanov is against harming farmers and suggests that if the EC proposal is adopted, the new agricultural policy will cause mass protests. The MEP's visit will end with a meeting with citizens at 6:30 p.m. in the "Professor Architect Yolov" hall of the Trimontium Hotel.
