A 40-year-old man was detained for beating his mother in a particularly brutal manner in an apartment in the capital's "Lyulin" district, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office announced.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 21.
According to the prosecutor's office, the accused attacked his mother. He squeezed her tightly and twisted her arm, then knocked her to the floor and punched her multiple times in the head and back.
The victim has minor injuries, including swelling of the head, abrasions on the back and bruises.
„The act was committed in conditions of domestic violence. "Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case for a crime punishable by imprisonment," the prosecutor's office said.
The accused has a previous criminal record, but has been rehabilitated. By order of a supervising prosecutor, he was detained for 72 hours, and then the court determined the most severe measure of detention - detention in custody.
