They are raising social security by 2%, there is a record increase in the MOD, we hear that they are also raising the dividend tax. This is taking Bulgaria back and increasing the deficit. This turbulent leftist populism does not include a single measure to reduce spending. This government of the new leftist beginning is leading Bulgaria to huge budget problems.“
This is what Martin Dimitrov from „Democratic Bulgaria“ commented to journalists in the National Assembly.
They specified that they are proposing a phased introduction of a zero rate for reinvested profits: “Something that Estonia did with great success in 2000 and attracted huge investments.“
Regarding Borisov's words about continuing the policy of Asen Vassilev, he emphasized: “I expect him to justify himself with Khan Asparuh as well. Why did Khan Asparuh come and establish a state here? The facts are that while our cabinet was in power, the deficit was 2%, next year it should be decreasing – something that they cannot achieve. Enough excuses – show us one measure of yours from this government to reduce expenses.“
Bozhidar Bozanov stated: “We have not seen a single measure to reduce expenses. That is why we have proposed such – our package of right-wing measures. A ceiling on bonuses in the public sector - the Supreme Judicial Council, regulators, administration, public enterprises, so that they don't give away as much as they want. Also, the social security of civil servants - must start paying for them.“
Ivaylo Mirchev commented on the reformatting of the ruling majority: “The reformatting is a bit like perestroika. In the 80s, the USSR was going to do perestroika, Todor Zhivkov said: “Now we will lower ourselves“. Borisov did the same. Today is October 31 - the day on which the budget must be submitted at the latest. Have you seen the budget? We are looking for it, it is not there. Obviously there is none, the government has a problem.“
According to Bozanov, the election of a new Supreme Judicial Council is important in order to remove Peevski from the judicial system. He is adamant that whenever it happens, it must happen without him.
