We have submitted a proposal for an urgent hearing of the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy and the head of the National Agency for National Security and Defense, so that they can familiarize us with the real situation on the fuel market at a closed session of the National Assembly, as this is extremely important for national security. This was announced at a briefing by the leader of „Yes, Bulgaria“ and MP from the PG of „We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) Ivaylo Mirchev.
„A short while ago, the parliament session was interrupted with a request to have an extraordinary budget and finance committee to vote on a proposal to ban the export of aviation fuel and diesel from Bulgaria. This was done by the government“, said Mirchev.
The MP recalled that 9 days ago, "Yes, Bulgaria" requested a hearing of the relevant ministers in parliament – first in the energy committee, then in the plenary hall, to familiarize them with the situation with the fuel market and with Bulgaria's stocks of gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel. “Nothing like this was adopted by the government“, he added.
In his words, now, in a flash and without any preparation, after it became clear that in recent days there has been an increased export of fuels from Bulgaria and after the government assured for a whole week that everything was fine, at the last moment, at 12 to 5, an extraordinary item was included in the work of the National Assembly and this ban was voted on.
“If it was a preventive measure, it would have been announced 10 days ago and it would have been like a normal item in the work of the National Assembly. When it is done at noon and the work of the National Assembly is interrupted to form an extraordinary committee, there is nothing regular about it and it is clearly acting on a whim“, Mirchev believes.
One of the concerns of the opposition deputies is that the 90-day fuel reserves in Bulgaria are not 90-day reserves and not all companies import the necessary fuels into the state warehouses.
“We voted for the ban and supported the ban in committee. This is nationally responsible behavior“, Mirchev also said.
