Myumyun Iskender continues to be mayor of Mineralni Bani Municipality. The Plovdiv Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the Haskovo District Court of October 21, which imposed a measure of procedural coercion on him "removal from office". The request was from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office on four charges.
The reasons for the appellate magistrates are that Iskender cooperated by submitting the requested documents. The decision of the Plovdiv Court of Appeal is final.
Iskender was also removed from office in the spring by a decision of the Haskovo District Court in another pre-trial proceeding. The appellate magistrates overturned the decision of the Haskovo court.
The problems for the mayor of Mineralni Bani began a year ago, when an operation was carried out in the municipality by the Directorate of Anti-Corruption and the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. He, his children and a municipal employee were detained and charged with participating in an organized criminal group. After the investigation period expired, Myumyun Iskender returned to work.
