The possible special manager of "Lukoil" to establish control over the company so that the money from the fuel trade does not go to Russia. This is how the leader of the DSB, Gen. Atanas Atanasov, saw the role of the state in the case of the Burgas refinery, after a meeting of the party's Executive Council in Sliven. On the topic of the 2026 budget, he announced that the financial framework includes unrealistic revenues of 4-5 billion leva, while expenses are increasing. Gen. Atanasov once again raised the topic of the silence of the services on the issue of the property in the basin of the “Iskar“ dam, used by the Russian Embassy, and announced that his party would refer the matter to NATO institutions, demanding a reaction against Russian influence in Bulgaria.

The acquisition of "Lukoil" by the Bulgarian Energy Holding hides risks, said the leader of the DSB.

"What the state can do is establish control over nothing else, through the possible special manager, so that the money obtained from the fuel trade does not go to Russia. That, that is the main task. From there on, the state could get involved in some way, to assist in the change of ownership. But the other is an extreme measure and that is nationalization. Should the state take such a step? It is not excluded of course, but this must be in line with national interests in principle. In the broad sense of the word".

Regarding the personality of the special manager of the refinery and the possibility that he could sell parts of it, Atanasov asked with what authority he would sell foreign property.

"How will this happen? This is foreign property? How will he sell, with what sanction? There are very big risks here of getting into international scandals and being condemned as a country".

Aside from the topic of "Lukoil", Atanasov announced that by Christmas an agreement will be signed in the democratic community on the manner of running in the presidential elections next year. The main goal is a single candidacy that will reach the runoff, but he did not want to comment on names.
