Three people got a chance for a new life after the relatives of a 45-year-old man made the noble decision to donate his organs. The donor situation was implemented by a team of the MHAL “Uni Hospital“ - Panagyurishte with coordinator Dr. Alexey Leshtansky, reported the press center of the Executive Agency “Medical Supervision”.
As a result, a 38-year-old man underwent a successful liver transplant, performed by a team from the Military Medical Academy, led by Prof. Dr. Vasil Mihaylov, together with Prof. Dr. Ivelin Takorov.
For the first time in the history of the Military Medical Academy - MMA, a medical team, led by Prof. Dr. Iliya Saltyrov, transplanted kidneys to a 42-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. According to information from the medical institution, the patients are in good general condition and remain under medical supervision in intensive care. For medical reasons, other organs were not transplanted.
The Ministry of Health and the Executive Agency “Medical Supervision” express sincere condolences to the donor's relatives and deep gratitude for their noble decision, taken in a difficult moment, to save human lives. Gratitude is also expressed to the teams of the medical institutions.
