The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency appeals to drivers to prepare their cars for winter travel and to monitor the good technical condition of the vehicle. From tomorrow - November 15, winter maintenance of the republican road network comes into effect. The regional road departments monitor the weather forecasts and the road maintenance companies are ready to take the necessary actions to treat the pavements when temperatures drop and the weather worsens, in order to ensure the safe travel of drivers. The goal is for preventive and then snow removal activities to begin as quickly as possible in order to ensure the passability of the roads. Priority is given to motorways, the busiest routes on the first-class and second-class road network and the passes providing connections between Northern and Southern Bulgaria.
On the eve of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims - November 16, 2025, the Agency appeals to drivers to drive their cars carefully and sensibly, to strictly follow traffic rules, because travel safety is most important. In the winter months, to set off only with suitable tires, to drive at a reasonable speed, to keep a safe distance, not to undertake risky overtaking and sharp maneuvers, as well as overtaking snowplows. Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions makes it difficult for all other drivers to travel and for snowplows to work.
At the initiative of the United Nations General Assembly, every third Sunday of November - on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims - tribute is paid to those who lost their lives and those injured in road accidents.
