The United States made an exception for Bulgaria from the sanctions against "Lukoil". The Treasury Department in Washington said that business with 4 companies will be allowed. These are the refinery in Burgas, the network of gas stations, the aviation fuel producer and tax warehouses in Bulgaria, Nova TV reported.

The postponement is until April 29th. However, the exception does not allow the companies to do business with the remaining sanctioned branches of „Lukoil”.

„Lukoil” announced that it is in talks to sell its international assets, and according to sources, the American investment fund “Carlisle” is an interested party.

Earlier today, Britain issued a special license that allows businesses to continue working with two Bulgarian subsidiaries of the sanctioned Russian oil company “Lukoil“.

The new license allows companies and banks to carry out transactions with “Lukoil Bulgaria“ EOOD and “Lukoil Neftochim Burgas“ AD, as well as their subsidiaries, until February 2026.

In the middle of last month, British authorities announced sanctions against the largest Russian oil producers, including “Lukoil“ and “Rosneft“, for their role in financing Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. A little later, the United States also introduced similar sanctions.
