The Municipal Council has trampled over five laws in order to increase paid parking in Sofia. This is harming Sofia residents, 2/3 of the capital is becoming a paid parking lot, etc. Both the procedures and the laws were very seriously violated when issuing this decision. This was stated by the leader of the civic platform "Stand Up. BG" Maya Manolova in the "Face to Face" program on bTV.
According to her, the most significant violation is the lack of financial justification for the proposed price increase.
„In 15 years since the zone was introduced, the CGM has earned nearly 40 million, but no new parking lots have been built. That is, the money is not being used for its intended purpose", said Manolova.
Expanding the zone defeats the purpose – to limit and improve parking in Sofia, she explained.
The issue was not discussed. Thousands of Sofia residents pay for a service they do not receive. All this could have been avoided if the mayor's team had not been so complacent. I call on them to show common sense. The double increase in paid parking in Sofia will not pass, withdraw it. Let a decision be made that is consensual, said Maya Manolova.
