The political reactions surrounding the case with Blagomir Kotsev continue. After yesterday GERB called on its colleagues in OIC-Varna not to support Kotsev's release as mayor, today the party welcomes the commission's decision. According to Vladislav Goranov, if there is reason to remove the mayor of Varna, this should only be done by a court decision, summarized "Nova TV".

The PP-DB, however, criticized this approach, because in their opinion, this shifts responsibility to institutions that "illegally held the mayor of Varna for five months", even though the Supreme Court of Cassation's decision was made a few days ago. The party also stated that they have no information that Kotsev was transferred from Sofia to Varna.

“We do not have an official position and have not called on our members, as they always vote according to their conscience and in relation to the specific case, taking into account, of course, all the circumstances and facts“, commented Atanas Atanasov from “BSP-United Left“.

“It is important for us that Kotsev returns to his duties and can perform them calmly, even from home. You know that the mayor is the mayor until he is removed. Therefore, until the case is finally resolved, the people of Varna have every reason to protest and declare: ‘We want our mayor“, said Nikolay Denkov from PP–DB.

“I understood that the MEC has decided to preserve Kotsev's powers, and this is the most reasonable thing. If anyone should rule on the matter, it is the Bulgarian court. The residents of Varna elected him mayor, not the members of the municipal election commission“, said Vladislav Goranov from GERB.
