People's dissatisfaction was completely justified

Vice President Iliana Yotova expressed categorical support for the protesters tonight in downtown Sofia.

She told journalists that people's dissatisfaction is completely justified because of the way the most important financial law of the state is being prepared and adopted.

"I truly share this protest, because with dialogue this budget would probably look much better," said Yotova, quoted by BTA.

According to the Vice President, the government is imposing the "mantra" that the option they proposed is the only possible one, which is not true. She emphasized that never before has the state budget been adopted with such a lack of communication.

"Never before has a budget been adopted with such a lack of dialogue and arrogant attitude on the part of the authorities not only towards political opponents, but also towards business circles, social partners, unions and civil society", added Yotova.

The vice president's comment came against the backdrop of a large-scale protest in the so-called "Triangle of Power" in the center of the capital. The dissatisfaction is directed against the parameters of Budget 2026, with the organizers of the demonstration being "We Continue the Change" and employers' organizations. The protesters blocked traffic in the area, demanding more transparency and changes in the financial framework.

According to Yotova, it was the refusal to dialogue that brought people to the streets. "The result was people protesting," she summarized the situation with the escalating social tension.
