Vladislav Goranov on the BSP ultimatum: Nothing is at any cost. We started this cabinet with higher goals

For weeks, there has been talk that the PP-DB want to restart the rebellious moods of 2020, but the situation is not the same. A few weeks before one of the most successful projects - entering the eurozone, leaving the country without power is irresponsible, Goranov further explained

We are stopping decision-making regarding the budget, we are temporarily stopping the parliamentary procedure, because the budget has not been withdrawn. It was adopted on the first vote and is on the agenda of the National Assembly. The debate will enter into substance tomorrow. This was stated by former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov in the program “More from the Day” on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

The budget cannot be brand new, at least because today's bill is the result of accumulating everything that has happened in the state in the previous few years. I have participated in the compilation of 20 budgets in various capacities from 2000 to 2020. Back then, there was a different doctrine towards the state's numbers and a different type of communication. All of this was corrupted by the people who today claim to be the fulcrum of public finances, namely Assen Vassilev and the PP-DB. If today they talk about right-wing measures, I would like them to participate in this conversation during the years when the pension system and the mechanisms for setting the minimum wage and a bunch of other wrong decisions were distorted, he explained.

If we have to give a political assessment of the protest, the victory in it belongs to the citizens, because we obviously have not managed to conduct communication in a way that keeps social tension at an optimal level. No one will ever pass the perfect budget - there will always be dissatisfied people. The absurd thing in this case is that the most generous budget arouses the greatest debates, which shows that we continue to treat the political crisis with illegitimate instruments, and not so much with macroeconomic solutions that have found a place in the budget, the former finance minister explained.

For weeks, there has been talk that PP-DB wants to restart the rebellious moods of 2020, but the situation is not the same. A few weeks before one of the most successful projects - entry into the eurozone - leaving the country without power is irresponsible, Goranov explained.

He also commented on the BSP's position on rethinking their participation in government because of the budget: “Nothing is at any price. We started this cabinet with higher goals. Some of them will be achieved within the next few weeks. Borisov issued this warning to all participants in the joint government who are trying to wring their hands. The aspiration in the coming weeks will not be to cross the red lines of some of the partners, but we will not leave the responsibility solely in our hands. The balance must continue to be sought. In order to pass any budget, more than half of the MPs must support this amalgam of different decisions,” explained Goranov.

He emphasized that there is much more to be done with regular governance than with the political timelessness we have been going through in recent years.
