"Save Sofia": The withdrawal of the budget is insufficient, resignation and fair elections are needed

People should be ready for mass protests for a longer period of time, "Save Sofia" believes

Let's talk honestly and without illusions. A few overturned containers and broken windows are not the real damage, but the stolen billions that have been stopping Bulgaria's development for decades. It is important that the protests take place without casualties - we will replace the windows, but if we let the country fail, this is irreparable. This is stated in an official position from "Save Sofia" and they add:

Pointing at broken windows while hundreds of thousands of Bulgarians are showing you the door is a manifestation of feudal thick-skinnedness. Creating a parallel reality is a well-known trick of Peevski and Borisov. It will not pass this time! History is categorical: no authoritarian government has ever left with just songs.

If we want real change, this time resignation alone is not enough. Early elections are needed, but not according to the old rules. Condition “zero“ for new elections is the restoration of machine voting. No compromises, no printers, but fair and verifiable elections.

People must be ready for mass protests for a longer period of time. The presence of Borisov and Peevski in political life, with all their dependencies and concentration of power, is a constant source of enormous instability and irritation for society.

Look at the footage from Plovdiv, Varna, Stara Zagora, Burgas and dozens of other cities. This is not a protest only in Sofia or the so-called “urban liberal community“. This is a national protest. Bulgaria is rising up not to change a government, but to change the model.
