The man detained with 30 thousand leva during the riots after the protest against the government and the budget in Sofia also presented his point of view on the events of the evening of December 1 to Nova TV.
We recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs specified that money in various denominations with notes with names of streets in the capital were found on the man. "We assume that they were supposed to be handed over to certain individuals who would distribute them to other participants in the provocations", the director of the SDVR, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, told journalists.
"These are names of streets in the capital, where I have apartments that I rent out. I had to deposit the money at an ATM in a bank. A large part of the amount is for repairs, the other part is from insurance premiums, turnover from the apartments. It is not money with which to pay protesters", Simeon Petrov is categorical.
"When I set off in the direction of "Patriarch Evtimii", I reached "Oborishte", because the road was blocked. I left the car and decided that my colleague and I would walk until we reached the bank. That's when I realized that there was a protest. I was filming a video for TiKTok and right at the Triangle of Power, a policeman stopped me. I had not shown aggression. The uniformed man said: “Stop, lie down“. He pushed me, put his knee on me, pressed me. The attitude was quite rude. I said that I was not one of the protesters. He told me: “There is no such thing, shut up.“ I warned when I was arrested that I had a large sum of money on me. Nobody paid me any attention. They did not explain why they were detaining me”, Simeon said on the air of "Hello, Bulgaria". According to him, there were 13 people in the First District Department in total.
"There they did a second search on me. They took my money, along with my ID card. I told them that these were the names of streets in Sofia, where there are apartments, I can provide contracts for everything. "No normal person who pays protesters would go with 30 thousand leva in the evening," he specified. And he clarified that he does not know Bozhidar Bobokov - the son of businessman Atanas Bobokov, who allegedly gave him money to attend the demonstration.
