The driver who hit a police car on the Northern Tangent on Monday has been released on bail, BNT reports.
A police officer died after the accident. The prosecutor's office has charged the 34-year-old driver of the car with causing death by negligence and requested that he remain in custody.
According to the state prosecution, there is a risk that the man will commit another crime while at large. In the courtroom, it became clear that Miroslav Vassilev was driving at 149 kilometers per hour. And he had a total of 6 traffic violations. One of them was for speeding.
Vassilev's defense requested that he be released on bail because he has a clean criminal record and is employed. And the charge against him is not for a deliberate crime.
Vassilev stated in court that he was aware of what he had done.
The court determined that there was no danger that the accused would commit another crime.
It ordered that he be released on bail of 5,000 leva. It gave him 10 days to pay the amount.
The decision can be appealed.
