The people's representative from GERB Georgi Dilov-sin commented on the public tension, the protests and the upcoming vote on the new draft budget. In his conversation with the host, he stated that GERB is ready for elections, but stressed that “state logic“ currently requires that the budget be adopted first.
According to him, the ruling party is aware that resigning would be the politically most advantageous move for GERB:
“Political logic requires that we give what the people want – resignation. But state logic says otherwise.“
He stressed that the party is ready for an early vote and is convinced that it will increase its result: “I know my voters. In difficult times, the party grows. We are currently sacrificing many political principles in order to create a government that can stabilize the state and, above all, not fall into the hands of the president.“
Dilov admitted that a large part of his circle of friends supports the protests, but he himself was not on the square.
According to him, public energy is valuable, but the opposition is trying to use it:
„PP–DB and „Velichy“ are trying to ride the protests. This is normal, I have seen it since the 90s.“
He defined the budget as a „deep reason“ – accumulated dissatisfaction with the government.
When asked whether the presence of the MRF in the majority did not lead to an aggravation of the situation, Dilov replied:
„This is a convenient formula for opponents. The reality is simple - this is a minority government, every support is important.“ And he added that unlike other parties, GERB did not praise Delyan Peevski:
He emphasized that institutions should be protected, not humiliated: „If you attack the police and the fire department, you attack your own security.“
The MP also commented on the accusations of corruption, placing an emphasis on society:
„There is a lot of theft in Bulgaria. How many employers provide real salaries? How many craftsmen issue invoices? Corruption is a bilateral contract. Every person should be at least one-tenth as critical of themselves as they are of the government, whatever it may be. And when the traffic police stop them and ask: What are we doing now, they should give their license. At least start small“
According to Dilov, the new draft budget will be more popular than the one initially submitted:
“I preferred the old version, but this one will be more popular. The most important thing is that it doesn't touch taxes.“
