The new budget for 2026 enters parliament next week, but the opposition has already come out with sharp criticism - they defined it as “catastrophic”, Nova TV reported.

The PP-DB continues to be of the opinion that this budget plan is not a good option for our country, and the increase in taxes and social security contributions is postponed to the following years. They will propose changes between the first and second readings. But it is clear that the coalition is rather demanding the resignation of the government.

The chairman of the budget committee, Delyan Dobrev from GERB-SDF, said that they have no intention of increasing taxes and social security contributions and have managed to fulfill all the demands of the protesters.

The plan is for the budget to be adopted in committee on Tuesday and voted on in first reading this week. The idea is to have a new budget by Christmas.

Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB said that “this version of the budget continues to lead Bulgaria towards a catastrophe, and the increase in taxes and social security contributions is simply postponed to 2027 and 2026” He added that the indiscriminate spending continues. He added that they are not making any meaningful reforms to reduce spending. "This road is leading us step by step towards disaster," the MP also said.
