Valeri Zhablyanov: BSP in this government has shown a well-measured participation with competent people

The biggest problem in our political-party system, in my opinion, is the lack of trust in political parties - regardless of whether they are in government or in opposition. The biggest problem for the BSP seems to me to be the differences that exist among the supporters and members of the party in terms of their assessment of the formation's participation in the executive branch. This was stated in “Hello, Bulgaria” by the member of the National Council of the BSP Valeri Zhablyanov.

He expressed hope that in the coming months until the elections, since it is clear that the country is headed for another extraordinary parliamentary vote – The question of how the BSP participates in the executive branch, how it enters into coalitions - will be the most important for the conversation within the party.

Zhablyanov also commented on the resignations of the BSP Executive Bureau. „There is no doubt that the party's participation in this government was successful. This is the assessment of the party leadership. In addition, there are no objections to the work of individual ministers from party members. A series of declarations by party organizations were adopted with demands for resignations, but they do not contain a negative assessment of the activities of the BSP ministers in the government,” he is categorical.

According to him, the BSP ministers in the relevant departments “have managed to partially implement measures, not policies, because the period was too short”, but their work was successful.

Regarding the protests that led to the resignation of the “Zhelyazkov” cabinet, Zhablyanov pointed out that ”they gave a severe moral assessment of the government”: “The second reason for the demonstrations was disagreement with the parameters of the initial version of the budget. For other assessments of the protests – in relation to individual ministries, including corruption of this government – I haven't heard”.

And he added: "The BSP in this government has shown a well-measured participation with competent people, so our assessment is unequivocal – that the government is successful".

Regarding the resignation of the party's Executive Bureau, he was categorical that it "is not because of the BSP's participation in the government". "But because a large part of our members and supporters believe that the party's participation in a government with right-wing parties with a liberal ideology does not allow the BSP to realize its program goals. This is largely true", he explained.
