The head of the CPC: We should not worry that prices will rise after the adoption of the euro

There is no change in prices for 85% of the goods that we monitor. We are talking about food products, medicines, household goods. We have identified a list of 101 products that are vital and we monitor extremely carefully, said Alexander Kolyachev

Nothing unusual is happening on the market at the moment. This is shown by our observations and the information that comes from the website "Kolko stoje". There are no deviations in prices. We are not worried about the dates December 31 and January 1. On January 1, the only thing that will happen is that our currency will change.

This was stated in the program "Osche ot dnia" on BNT, the acting chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), Alexander Kolyachev, who commented on the topic of the upcoming adoption of the euro in Bulgaria, quoted by novini.bg.

"All control bodies are prepared. We have held numerous meetings and exchanged experiences. We should not worry that prices will rise after the adoption of the euro. There is no change in prices for 85% of the goods that we monitor. We are talking about food products, medicines, household goods. We have identified a list of 101 products that are vitally necessary and we monitor them extremely carefully. There are very rare cases of unlawful price increases. I was impressed by the price of flu vaccines, which has increased in recent weeks. We have requested information from all traders and if we find that the price has been unreasonably increased, we will impose sanctions", he added.

"We are waiting for the court decision regarding the price of the blue and green zones in Sofia. We are not waiting for the court decision regarding the price of taxis, because this price was increased long before the introduction of the euro. This shows that we are not only checking grocery stores. We are checking all types of services", Alexander Kolyachev was categorical.
