In the social enterprise of the Plovdiv municipality, people with disabilities and from other vulnerable groups create glass Christmas toys using a forgotten old technology. They hand-paint the toys, which they previously shaped themselves through glass blowing. There is no other social enterprise in Europe that uses this method.
The social economy gives people with disabilities the opportunity to develop their skills, to work and thus be useful to themselves, their families and society.
You can find out how the Municipal Social Enterprise in Plovdiv, with director Vanina Kostadinova, helps those in need of support to master and preserve a disappearing craft that is difficult to master even for people without problems, from the video published on the profiles of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) on social networks:
It is part of the MLSP campaign “The Silent Support of Big Hearts“. It presents the mission of social workers through six stories - to help not only during the holidays, but every day, and to give hope.
