The contribution of Bulgaria and Albania in the implementation of measures to strengthen NATO's capabilities was discussed by the Minister of Defense, Atanas Zapryanov, in his resignation, and his Albanian counterpart, Piro Vangu, the press center of the Ministry of Defense announced. The focus of the talks was the contribution of Bulgaria and Albania in the implementation of measures to strengthen NATO's deterrence and defense capabilities on the Eastern flank of the Alliance. Emphasis was placed on the development of the operational capabilities of the NATO Multinational Battle Group in Bulgaria.

During the visit, the Albanian delegation led by him visited the “Novo Selo“ training ground. Minister Pirro Vangu held a meeting with Albanian military personnel included in the NATO Multinational Battle Group in Bulgaria. He congratulated the military personnel on the upcoming New Year holidays, BTA reported.

In mid-September, Atanas Zapryanov paid a working visit to the Albanian capital Tirana. At that time, the two emphasized the strategic importance of Pan-European Corridor No. 8, cooperation within NATO, the security of the Alliance's eastern and southeastern flanks, as well as the opportunities for joint initiatives in the defense industry.
