Sofia residents welcome the New Year with a concert on Knyaz Alexander I Square

The New Year's Eve festive concert will take place on "Knyaz Alexander I" Square in Sofia tonight.

The Sofia municipality is preparing a light show for the New Year's Eve concert, but there will be no fireworks and called on Sofia residents to refrain from using pyrotechnics. The Security Service of the Interior Ministry will monitor the safety of visitors. More details were given by the head of the mass events sector, Chief Inspector Ivan Georgiev.

"From around 7 p.m., traffic on "Tsar Osvoboditel" Boulevard, in the section from "Nezavisimost" Square to "Rakovska" Street, as well as the adjacent streets to the boulevard will be suspended, and the admission of spectators will begin after 8:30 p.m. through 6 checkpoints, which will be set up separately. Also, apart from the aerial vehicles, the so-called drones, which will participate in the light show, the raising of other aerial vehicles will not be allowed," Georgiev explained.

The good mood of the audience on New Year's Eve at the concert at 9:30 p.m. in the evening on "Knyaz Alexander I" Square will be taken care of by numerous performers, including the group "Signal", Irina Florin and Nikolay Slaveev. The concert will be opened by "Merry Boys Band".

"I am very happy that "Merry Boys Band" for the first time in its 30-year history will play on the square in Sofia. "Merry Boys Band" will play music from all these years. You will also hear "Unknown Streets", "The Long Way Home", "Only for You", said Maria Mutafchieva from the group.
