“ "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" is floundering and it is undeniable that a decision about the future of the company must be made. But it cannot and should not be made without a technical audit that would reveal all the thefts that have been tolerated in the company over the years.“ This was stated by Emilia Angelova.
She is a municipal councilor from "Save Sofia" and a member of the Finance Committee of the Sofia Municipal Council, in connection with the news that Mayor Terziev is making a second attempt to submit a report on the concession of “Toplofikatsiya”.
In her words, without a real, in-depth and technical audit, there is a serious risk that abuses by the previous administration will be amnestied and swept under the carpet. “If only a formal review of documents is done, the thefts and abuses of GERB will be covered up. That is why we insist on a real technical audit – not on paper, but on site. We need to enter the warehouses and power plants to see what has been paid for but is not there, and what supposedly works but is actually destroyed“, Angelova emphasized.
The chairman of “Save Sofia” Boris Bonev was categorical that the mayor's proposal that the first phase of the audit should only include a documentary check is insufficient. “We know very well that GERB is good at covering up thefts with documents. That is why the audit must be real, technical and carried out now - not sometime in the future, after a concessionaire has already been selected or an irreversible decision has been made“, Bonev said.
"Save Sofia" emphasizes that the present moment is key to establishing the real extent of the damage. “This step must be used to understand exactly how much damage has been done to Sofia residents over the years, and not for everything to be swept under the carpet once again and the guilty to get away“, Bonev added.
"Save Sofia" declare that they will not give up their report and their insistence on a full and independent technical audit of “Toplofikatsiya Sofia“, as a condition for any future decision on the management and development of the company.
