GERB takes advantage of Trump's invitation to Radev for the Peace Council. This was told to the Bulgarian National Radio by Kaloyan Pargov, the deputy chairman of the BSP in resignation, specifying:
"Donald Trump's invitation to Rumen Radev to join the Peace Council, which coincides with his resignation, gives another player - represented by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, i.e. GERB - the opportunity to take advantage of this opportunity. Purely technologically and legally, the decision whether Rosen Zhelyazkov should join this Peace Council should be made by the National Assembly or the Council of Ministers. I separate the big geopolitics and interests, because Bulgaria's interest at the moment is to fit into the new realities and to get the most out of this new world order, of which it will be a part, in the coming decades.
It is good that Zhelyazkov is in favor of establishing the Peace Council, but the way in which this decision was made is reprehensible, he commented as a representative of a party from the ruling coalition.
According to Pargov, there are currently no ideologies operating in the world - neither right nor left, neither liberal nor conservative. The rules of harsh geopolitics and the geopolitical interests of the big players are in effect, which determine the landscape and influence on the small ones":
"There is a historical compromise between Washington and Moscow, similar to the one we observed at the end of World War II and shortly after, in which the world is taking shape, which today has already been radically changed, because the UN has a competitor - the Peace Council".
The Peace Council is not only Donald Trump's understanding, but it is also Moscow's understanding, Pargov emphasized and said that in April 2025, at the invitation of "United Russia" participated in a similar conference - on the new world order and the role of the UN.
"The question is, if a new Yalta is set, what place will it assign to us, or is it better to think about a new Helsinki, because it is more just than Yalta".
In the program "12+3" Kaloyan Pargov also commented on the upcoming BSP Congress, specifying that he was against this decision of the party bodies:
"The BSP should think about whether it needs a Congress of division, since it cannot be of unification. The party must confront what the fortune tellers and seers predict (after it became clear that Rumen Radev is entering the party arena)".
I will say whether I will run for BSP chairman if there is a Congress, he said, leaving open the possibility that the party Congress will not be held "in the changed situation after January 19, when the president resigned".
The new president Iliyana Yotova is an asset in the BSP's political capital, Pargov pointed out, adding that the BSP is committed to left-wing unity and must develop it.
