Nikolai Popov, the father of 12-year-old Siyana, who died in a car accident, announced on BNT that he is creating a civil association.
The formation is already in the process of being built and will include activists, experts and non-governmental organizations.
„I have gathered some exceptional experts, university professors, people from the entire public sphere around me. Including the people themselves are looking for me and offering to help us free of charge."
According to him, the goal is not just self-serving participation in power, but exerting real civil pressure to change the political model.
„Whether we will participate in the elections - this will be a decision made after talks with the partners. If this happens, we will certainly enter the National Assembly, regardless of how the vote is held: by machines, on paper," Popov said.
He emphasized that he was in no way seeking popularity or notoriety.
He again demanded a change in the judicial system and a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council.
6-7 hearings have been held on the "Siyana" case, but according to the father of the deceased girl, the process is still far from a verdict.
"We are far from a verdict, I can tell you simply. This case has brought to light a great many problems in the state and in the system in general, which I was able to shed light on and see. I was able to fix some things, for example, the control of trucks, they are now measured and fined for overloading, better quality repairs are being made. All this is happening with public pressure, unfortunately. Politicians are scared when there is media, strong coverage and strong public support, otherwise they are not interested. Here is a letter that, together with several non-governmental organizations, is addressed to all parties and is dated November. In this letter, we ask for a meeting with the parliamentaryly represented parties on the topic of judicial reform, the election of a new Supreme Judicial Council. Note, I was accused of defending the status quo because I demanded the resignation of the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, but in fact I want a new Supreme Judicial Council to be elected and for us to have legitimate both the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and for there to be no doubts about the legitimacy of the acting Prosecutor General. And here my struggle and my battle is not aimed at changing certain individuals, but at changing the entire system. Because the system is perverted, it gives rise to perverted decisions and there is no justice. And this is the biggest problem in our society, that there is a lack of justice, and from this lack of justice corruption and all other problems arise."
Nikolai Popov spoke about cases filed against him.
"Karapetkov was a guest in your studio on April 5-6 and was trying to prepare the public and suggest that the road was entirely to blame. The driver was not mentioned anywhere. I watched this recording several times and I helped him quite helpfully at the time, because I had not yet understood the details of the incident. And we got to this point that an expert opinion was obtained that contradicts the laws of physics. And if Isaac Newton read this expert opinion, he would turn in his grave several times. And if he found out that this was written by a person who is a professor of technical sciences and a doctor of technical sciences, he would turn in his grave several times more. It is so absurd. And this expertise cannot be defended. Can you imagine how many expertises there are. We have almost 500 cases of people killed on the road. And several thousand more for people injured. And what turns out is that some experts are manipulating the entire judicial system."
According to Siyana's father, the driver who was speeding and did not take the situation into account with the road conditions is to blame for the accident.
"All the evidence in the case indicates that the driver is at fault. of the truck. Since he was first speeding, then he was at an inappropriate speed, according to the road conditions, which are extremely bad. And here comes the second aspect. There is another case filed against me. By Mrs. Ivanka Garbenova, an employee of the Pleven RIA, who was fired after the "Siyana" case. Since serious shortcomings in her work regarding the maintenance of this road have been identified. And notice, this whole story is happening with companies close to GERB. And the orders are being made by people close to and appointed by Stefan Yanev's caretaker government. There is no color in corruption."
Popov pointed out that for the RIA employee, justice is very fast in the case against him.
"For her, justice is very fast. She went through all the instances and was returned to work in 3 months, and in 10-15 days they filed a case against me, she went to the Supreme Court of Cassation, where they determined jurisdiction and she went to court. And I received a summons from Monday for Tuesday. Do you understand what absurdities? And we, the parents of the murdered children, have to wait for years. The "Bozhidara" case - 7 years. The "Philip" case - 3 years. Siyana will soon be a year old, this case will not end soon. And all this, those from this letter are to blame for all this. And I see politicians coming out of your studio that I have known since childhood and watch them on TV, and they present themselves to us as something new. Anton Kutev, please, but he is already about to retire, this man. General Atanasov. Radev has been in politics for a long time. It will enter into an assembly, not with two generals, as Atanasov said, but with three generals. General Boyko Borisov will be the next assembly, General Rumen Radev and General Atanasov, who will perhaps be the speaker of the parliament.
