Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez called on Saturday night for "agreements with the opposition", exactly three weeks after the spectacular US military operation that captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, AFP reported.

In a speech on national television, Rodriguez said that "despite our differences, we must meet and reach agreements… For the people of Venezuela.

“There can be no political or party differences when it comes to peace in Venezuela,“ she added.

Delcy Rodriguez's term as interim president, according to the Venezuelan constitution, can last six months before new elections are held.

On Friday, she asked the speaker of parliament, her brother Jorge Rodriguez, to organize a meeting with the country's various political forces, saying she wanted a dialogue with “concrete and immediate results.“.

Protests against the announcement of Nicolás Maduro's victory in the 2024 presidential election led to the arrest of 2,400 people and 28 were killed during the authorities' post-election crackdown. The opposition, which is still claiming victory, accused the authorities of falsifying the elections.
