Denitsa Sacheva: Rumen Radev's hope is just a bubble

For almost 3 years, he ruled almost single-handedly, believes the GERB representative

Rumen Radev still does not give specifics about his political project. This is criticized in "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov" Denitsa Sacheva from GERB. According to her, he brings empty hopes to society and defined them as a bubble.

„Radev has been campaigning for the presidency for 9 years. We have repeatedly called on him to come out and make his own political entity. We still do not know what he will have. We see that the thing that we do not know whether it will be a party or a movement, has its members, but it does not yet have its own structure, registration, name, platform, ideology, team. All of this is extremely important for politics and it is important not for GERB, but for all those who currently think that Rumen Radev brings them hope, because at the moment this hope is just a bubble. In order for it to materialize and for us to see what lies behind all these loud phrases and moral monologues, we need to see a little more concreteness. At this stage, we do not see any specifics“, explained Denitsa Sacheva.

She recalled that Radev as president has appointed 5 caretaker governments and has shown what his views are on teams and policies.

„For almost 3 years, he ruled almost single-handedly, because he was president and the person who determined the composition of the Council of Ministers.“

In this regard, she asked what he had achieved in these 9 years:

„If we look at it even through the prism of the presidential institution, Zhelyu Zhelev built this institution, Petar Stoyanov had the cause for children from homes to have a ball, Georgi Parvanov is the author of “Bulgarian Christmas“, Rosen Plevneliev left a presidential library, what did Rumen Radev leave us?“

She emphasized that the election campaign is important to be as informative as possible so that people know what to expect.

“Anyone can sell dreams, blow up balloons, the question is what can actually happen and who are the people who are prepared to govern the country, have programs and teams, who are the people who learn from mistakes. Currently, Rumen Radev is trying to present our mistakes as capital, but we learn from our mistakes, we admit them, while all of our mistakes Rumen Radev has yet to make.“

According to her, it is obvious that Bulgarian citizens will no longer give an absolute majority in the next elections. That is why we must work in a coalition, not alone. According to her, GERB is a good example in this regard.

GERB has no relation to the date of the elections, said Sacheva.

She commented on the latest political events in our country and Bulgaria's participation in international peace initiatives, including Davos.

„I don't see anything more natural than Bulgaria supporting a peace initiative. Bulgaria being at the negotiating table and in the talks where peace is being discussed. Because in many ways, I think that we have shown so far, at least as far as the people from GERB are concerned, that in terms of foreign policy we have very good diplomats. It is no coincidence that GERB is represented at many levels, including in various European institutions, while the colleagues who today criticize us for our foreign policy decisions could hardly boast even a single face-to-face contact with any of the main people who are currently determining the new order and the new rules. It is wrongly believed that this initiative is somehow directed against Europe, quite the opposite“, said Sacheva.
