The Health Inspectorate in Plovdiv recommends declaring a flu epidemic from Wednesday - January 28, reports bTV. The measure is being imposed due to the drastic spike in flu cases.
In-person classes in schools are being suspended, announced the director of the inspectorate, Dr. Argir Argirov. Whether students will switch to online learning or go on a flu vacation is yet to be decided by the Plovdiv Education Inspectorate, he added.
The regional operational headquarters for combating influenza is meeting this afternoon, at which a final decision will be made on the measures.
Meanwhile, students in Dobrichko are returning to class today after a week of distance learning.
The influenza epidemic in the region was not extended, and so all temporarily suspended activities are being restored and will function normally. A decrease in the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory diseases in the region has been reported for the last week.
Despite the improved epidemic situation, health authorities recommend that citizens continue to observe basic preventive measures – avoiding gatherings with many people, wearing a protective mask in crowded places and regular disinfection.
Anti-epidemic measures are in force in Varna until today. There are also such measures in Burgas until Friday.
