Bulgaria's participation in such international treaties implies ratification by the National Assembly. This was stated by former Justice Minister Anton Stankov on the air of "Oporni horo" on the occasion of the initial agreement for our country to join the Peace Council of US President Donald Trump.
"The executive branch has the right to the initiative, but let's not forget that Bulgaria is a country in resignation - a government in resignation, a parliament that must be dissolved. It is not serious. This is not a legal problem in principle, but a political one", the former Minister of Justice emphasized.
Regarding the changes to the Electoral Code, Stankov commented: "The Specialized Court, the Prosecutor's Office, the CPC - how were they created? Obviously for a bluff - additional pressure on political processes... I really hope for a new national round table. There is a need. It must start from the extra-parliamentary forces, because in the parliament we see that it is unproductive, non-working. These parties may subsequently be included, but this is a very complex political project, a process that would be difficult to manage".
"At the same time, it must end with changes to the Constitution", the former minister concluded to Bulgaria ON AIR.
He shared his personal opinion on the topic of the judiciary, the place of the prosecutor's office and the Investigation Department: "These are issues that the Constitutional Court has said should be resolved by the Grand National Assembly".
