I believe that the five percent are absolutely guaranteed, I do not see what obstacles there would be, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy in resignation, Borislav Gutsanov, told journalists in response to a question whether there is a risk that the five percent increase in salaries in the budget sphere will not be implemented, because according to experts this is contrary to the Public Finances Act.
I do not see such a risk, since there is already a decision of the Council of Ministers, Gutsanov said. Things are clear, at least from my point of view, he also commented. Gutsanov expressed regret that the increase was not 10%, as originally planned.
On January 21, the Council of Ministers approved a decision on the implementation of provisions of the so-called extended budget law related to the indexation of salaries of employees in budgetary organizations. Based on the information provided by the National Statistical Institute, it was determined that for the purposes of implementing the provision of the extended law, the accumulated annual inflation as of December 31, 2025 is 5 percent. The salaries of workers and employees in budgetary organizations will be indexed by 5%, starting from January 1, 2026.
