Last night was the coldest in Moscow since the beginning of winter, with thermometers measuring minus 20.4 degrees Celsius, TASS reported.
Forecaster Mikhail Leus wrote in "Telegram" that the snow cover in the Russian capital decreased by one centimeter yesterday, but today it is still at a record high for the last day of the first month of the year - 60 centimeters, BTA recalled.
The previous record for January 31 - 59 centimeters, dated back to 1994.
