President Iliana Yotova will begin official consultations with the parliamentary parties on Tuesday, February 3. The goal of the talks is to determine the next caretaker prime minister, she told journalists during her visit to the village of Delchevo for the wine festival.

"My idea is for the next caretaker prime minister to meet the expectations of Bulgarian citizens," said Yotova, quoted by BTA. She emphasized that the name of the future prime minister will be announced only after the talks with the political forces in the National Assembly are completed.

Despite the ambition to find a figure with broad public trust, the procedure remains within the so-called "house book" - a limited list of officials according to the latest changes to the Constitution. At the moment, five of the potential candidates have already expressed their willingness in principle to take the post, but the final decision remains in the hands of the president.

Iliyana Yotova's statement was made in the municipality of Gotse Delchev, where she participated in the traditional ritual cutting of the vineyards for Trifon Zarezan. According to the head of state, it is important for the new cabinet to ensure calm and fair elections, without deepening the political confrontation in the country.
