As of the end of January 2026, the liabilities of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" amount to 1,215,527,112 euros. The hearing is in connection with the repair of the heat transmission network in the "Druzhba" residential area 2. It was requested by municipal councilor Greti Stefanova, who is also the deputy chairwoman of the engineering commission, news.bg specified.

Petrov explained that the obligations of "Toplofikatsiya" to "Bulgargaz" as of January 31, 2026 amount to 762,330,998 euros, and to the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) the debts are 403,085,300 euros. According to him, the company owes the amount of 50,110,814 euros under engineering contracts.

He pointed out that the annual interest on the obligations to "Bulgargaz" is 16%, and that on the debts to BEH is 12%. The director of the company emphasized that there is no possibility for "Toplofikatsiya" to change the interest rate, because this is a bilateral process. Petrov added that BEH and "Bulgargaz" are not inclined to negotiate on this topic. According to him, since 2019, there have been repeated talks to renegotiate the interest rates, but they have not yielded any results.

The head of "Toplofikatsiya" stated that the company is not in actual bankruptcy, since revenues are still more than expenses. He noted that the company manages a small part of its revenues that it receives, and the rest goes directly to repay debts to "Bulgargaz" and BEH. Petrov added that these are additional obligations, the interest on which becomes significantly higher every year.

Regarding the poor condition of the inter-block spaces in the "Druzhba" residential complex 2 at the end of January due to the company's repairs there, Petar Petrov said that when the repair work began, the goal was to restore the heat supply as much as possible so that consumers could be left without heating and hot water for the shortest possible period of time. He emphasized that all the efforts of the contractors and "Toplofikatsiya" were directed at replacing the pipes and restoring the heat supply. According to him, immediately after the repair was completed, restoration of the flooring also began.
