The testimony of Nikolai's father, given to the police during the search, sheds light on the period in which the boy left for Mexico with his mother and began living with Ivaylo Kalushev, Trud News writes.
„One day after the move, I received an email that Niki would live in a Buddhist commune, would not go to school and would be among people who are exalted. That was the first time I heard about Ivaylo Kalushev and I was shocked.“
The father says that communication with his son changed abruptly and soon after he received a message:
„Literally for days, communication collapsed and at one point he wrote to me not to look for him anymore.“
Worried, he goes to Mexico to find out what is happening.
„Until now I thought they were kidnapped or something like that, because the information I was receiving was absurd.“
According to him, the group did not live in a temple, as described, but in a guarded luxury property. After meeting with his son and Kalushev, he was convinced that the stay there was voluntary.
Later, already an adult, Nikolay returned to Bulgaria and began living at the base near „Petrohan“.
„I saw a normal environment, without anyone visibly worried about anything.“ This is how the father describes what he saw in the hut in October 2022, when it was his only visit there.
The father admits that he did not accept his son's choice, but he was repeatedly assured that in the activity the group has nothing wrong with it, both in Mexico and later in Bulgaria.
