The common list of safe countries and the clearer application of the "safe third country" principle will speed up procedures, facilitate returns and ease the pressure on Bulgaria as a country on the EU's external border.
The European Parliament approved the introduction of a pan-European list of safe countries of origin, as well as the clearer application of the "safe third country" principle.
For Bulgaria, this means faster procedures, more effective management of migratory pressure and better protection of the external border.
„The adopted decisions are a step towards clearer rules and a more workable system that will ease the pressure on countries on the EU's external border like Bulgaria. They will not solve all the problems, but they are a necessary basis for more effective migration control“, said Stanislav Stoyanov.
The adopted changes were supported by the votes of the „Vazrazhdane“ delegation in the European Parliament, led by Stanislav Stoyanov and part of the «Europe of Sovereign Nations» group.
"The „Vazrazhdane“ delegation in the European Parliament will continue to work for a policy that strengthens border security, limits illegal migration and protects Bulgaria's interests within the European Union.", Stoyanov, who is chairman of the European Union party ESN and deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the same name, is categorical.
