At the end of 2023, weeks after his election on November 6, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev cooperated and practically lobbied the Border Police leadership for volunteers he knew, living in the "Petrohan" hut, indicating that they could help the authorities with activities in the area and in specific operational situations. This is clear from an internal report of the Ministry of Interior, writes Glasove.

On 20.08.2024, an application for access to public information regarding the activities of the association “National Agency for Control of Protected Areas“ was filed with the Ministry of Interior. The Anti-Corruption Fund notified the Minister that it had received information about initiated cases and inspections, allegedly in connection with the active nature conservation activities of the association. The information received by the ACF gives them reason to believe that there is a risk of abuse and institutional harassment of an internationally and nationally recognized organization, such as the Association, which conducts the only activity of its kind in Bulgaria on systematic civil monitoring of protected natural areas.
The report was prepared by the Directorate “Inspectorate“ at the Ministry of Interior for the verification of signals related to the association “National Agency for Control of Protected Areas“ and the work of employees from structures of the Ministry of Interior on them.
