Prosecutor dismissed at Sarafov's suggestion: "The Dwarves" are afraid of the light

The Prosecutor's Office must be independent of external and internal influences in order to be able to do its job, Nikolov said

This is untrue and absolutely manipulative, it does not correspond to the truth. I am proud of all my actions as a district prosecutor. This was said in the program "Face to Face" on BTV by Vladimir Nikolov, dismissed as the district prosecutor of Pleven by the Supreme Judicial Council at the suggestion of the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov in connection with the motives for his dismissal - that with a series of his orders he systematically violated the principle of random selection in the distribution of files and pre-trial proceedings in the prosecutor's office he led.

I take this opportunity to personally thank Borislav Sarafov and the prosecutor's college of the SJC, because this is a certificate of my integrity. This proposal by Sarafov was made just on the eve of the annual meeting of the Association of Prosecutors (at that time Vladimir Nikolov was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria – editor's note) We have always defended the right of prosecutors to be independent, and not to serve the interests of any leader, Nikolov said.

It concerns files of a prosecutor who was seconded to Sofia and after he was returned to Pleven, the files were returned to him. My actions are absolutely in line with the internal rules, the former district prosecutor of Pleven specified.

This was an attack on my personal integrity, my good name, in order to achieve what was ultimately achieved – convenient for Borislav Sarafov the leadership of the Association of Prosecutors. Borislav Sarafov personally intervened in the campaign to elect the leadership of the Association of Prosecutors. There were slanders in the yellow media. Personally, I was given a message by colleagues that I should give up the campaign so as not to lose everything. Pressure was exerted on my fellow prosecutors by Sarafov with the statement – whoever defended Nikolov is standing against me. Pressure was exerted on the free choice of prosecutors by the head of the prosecutor's office. Things have happened in the last year that a normal mind cannot think about, commented Vladimir Nikolov.

The prosecutor's office must be independent of external and internal influences in order to be able to do its job. Politicians must realize that they must support this institution and the honest people in it. I also address my colleagues - when we turn our backs, things do not happen as they should. "The dwarves" are afraid of the light. We must shed light on all these cases, said Nikolov.
